Muertos En Westwood 2023
Get ready for an immersive celebration of life, culture, and tradition at the Muertos en Westwood Street Festival! The festivities will span the entire month of October, and culminate into a spectacular three-day street festival that showcases the evolution of Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) in Denver's Westwood neighborhood.
The Muertos en Westwood Street Festival, will run November 3rd through 5th, 2023 along Morrison Road (3700-3900 Morrison Rd, Denver, CO 80219), and will be the highlight of this month-long celebration. This event honors and celebrates the rich cultural traditions of Dia de los Muertos by creating space for community members to remember and honor their departed loved ones while fostering cultural pride, resilience, and building intergenerational connections.

MUERTOS EN WESTWOOD STREET FESTIVAL Day 1 - Mikailwitl (November 3rd 6pm-10pm): An authentic homage to pre-colonial traditions, Day 1 opens with a Danza Mexika ceremony, community altar, and art installations that pay tribute to the cherished traditions of our ancestors. The evening comes alive with the mesmerizing sounds of DJ Konz and world renowned indigenous musical group, TRIBU.
MUERTOS EN WESTWOOD STREET FESTIVAL Day 2 - Muertos en el Barrio (November 4th 12pm-7pm): This day is dedicated to celebrating the Chicano and Mexican-American community’S reclamation of Dia de los Muertos. Enjoy lowriders, live painting, photo booths, local vendors, and more. The event will be filled with music by Las Mañanas and DJ Miggy, and the community will gather for the heartwarming "Viva la Vida" student performance presented by In Lak'ech Denver Arts.
MUERTOS EN WESTWOOD STREET FESTIVAL: Day 3 - Festival de las Catrinas (November 5th 11am-5pm): This day showcases modern interpretations of Muertos, reflecting the iconic representations of today. With lucha libre, flower crown making, Catrina face painting, Mariachi music by Las Dahlias, and performance by Retro Norteño, this day promises to be a colorful and lively tribute to life. Sangre de Mexico finishes the weekend-long celebration with their “mis Dulce Catrinas” presentation.
